Speaking during the launch ceremony of the Connected Education Programme, President Michel Temer said on Thursday (23) that education is essential for a better future for the country. "What we seek, therefore, are public policies that are truly transformative," Temer said.
In the view of the president, the changes in education also help boost the recovery of the country's growth. "Our education can always use a leap of quality. And an important step, naturally, was secondary education reform. We need to do more - and we're always doing more," he added.
Through the programme, 22,400 public schools in more remote areas will have high-speed internet delivered through Brazil's Geostationary Satellite. "The goal is to teach our students and teachers how to maximise the use of the internet as the valuable education tool that it can be. And that requires training, it requires education," he said.
