Washington (GIDSS.com)- On Monday, Senator Bernie Sanders stressed how crucial it is for Republicans and Democrats to work together to prevent a potential government shutdown, which has an adverse effect on the American people, he wrote in the Washington Post.
Furthermore, the former presidential candidate added that a shutdown will affect millions of working-class Americans who won’t be able to access vital services. The shutdown also harms the lives of US military who are abroad and defending the country.
Sanders’ statement comes after President Trump announced his commitment to working with Democrats to end DACA to support the construction of a border wall. DACA (Deferred Action on Childhood Arrivals) is a program to assist children whose parents are illegal immigrants entering the US.
In United States politics, a shutdown is a process when two legislative bodies fail to agree on a bill to fund the administration. In October 2013, the shutdown lasted for 16 days after the Congress couldn’t reach an agreement on the federal budget for the fiscal year of 2014.
